Nominations from the Aboriginal community are sought in the Fall and Winter every year with a deadline at the end of February followed by the selection of the winners and a ceremony held in March, as close to the Spring solstice (March 21) as possible. There are three categories for nominees, including Business Youth (16—30), Businesswoman and Businessman. Nominators can nominate persons in all categories or some of the categories.
Since 2003 there have been 24 awards presented and each award is worth $1000.
